Identifying Pupils with SEND

We follow guidance from Bradford Metropolitan District Council Children's Services for SEND. This based on a graduated approach and an Assess, Plan, Do and Review structure.

Assess

School staff will assess pupils in class. The SENDCo and external agencies support staff with the assessment of pupil needs including strengths, areas of needs and how to support them.

 

Plan

With parental/carer agreement and involvement, an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be produced with personalised targets for the child. The targets will be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timed (SMART).

 

 Do

Children will receive support from relevant external agencies. Staff will deliver specific interventions in school specific to the needs of the child.

 

Review

ILP's will be reviewed each term and small steps of progress will be monitored by the class teacher and SENDCo. Repeat assessments may be carried out by external agencies.
